| Recent Announcements 3/3/10 - Sports Teams Forming - Captains Needed! Miss calling the shots and leading a team to victory? Spring sports teams are forming and we're looking for a few good captains! Last year we had softball, soccer, volleyball, flag football, and tennis teams. We are only limited by the number of people who wish to help organize and would be happy to have a team in every league! If you are interested in being a captain for a Michigan team this spring, please contact Bruce Canetti at canetti@gmail.com ASAP. Once we have a few captains on board we will set-up specific teams and send a more detailed email looking for players (we do have one soccer team already formed, see below). 3/3/10 - Soccer Team - A Few Spots Left Currently, an intermediate co-ed soccer team is already formed and has a few openings left. Games will be played on Sundays from 2-6 PM at Lincoln Park South Field (turf field at North Ave). The league begins on 4/18. If you are an intermediate level player and are interested in joining the team, contact Bruce Canetti at canetti@gmail.com ASAP. 3/3/10 - UMCGC Scholarship Program Information Updated The Scholarship Program information has been updated for the 2010-2011 academic year. Most notably, the application process is now *open* i.e. candidates must plan on attending UM but do not necessarily have to have already committed officially. Applicants may view the changes and download an application by clicking here. 1/27/10 - Big Ten Basketball Tournament Tickets Available 1/20/09- Haiti Relief: A note from Mary Sue Coleman, UM President: "The scale of devastation and heartache wrought by the earthquake in Haiti is almost too tragic to comprehend. And while we may feel helpless, there are, in fact, many ways for the Michigan community to make a difference in the lives of Haitians. No gesture is too small, and I encourage you to support a charitable organization that is responding to this disaster." As the second largest community of Michigan alumni, we can make a significant impact. Many employers are matching donations to this cause, so if yours is one of them, we encourage you to donate through your employer in order to make the biggest impact. If you are interesting in making a donation towards Haiti relief but are unsure where to turn, please go to the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago or click here for a list of other groups working to aid the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. 1/6/09- Happy New Year from the UMCGC!
